Happy 4th of July!

Our 4th of July was a good one this year! Any reason to dress up, party and have school/work off you just know is going to be good! We started off the day with the Rexburg parade (lots of children dancing and guys on tractors...) and finished the day with amazing fireworks in Menan. You can watch our video to see all the fun we had that day :) Hope everyone had a good and safe 4th!

Ezra Harvey Jorgensen

Ezra Harvey Jorgensen was born April 4th 2016 at 2:40 pm weighing 6 lbs 7 oz and 19 1/2 inches long.
We spent Sunday night in the hospital because I was going to officially be induced Monday morning. The first thing they did there was give me an IV. Josh almost passed out, legit almost passed out. He told the nurse he was going to pass out and they had to get him a chair and make sure he was okay. Haha! It was a little worrisome considering what was coming later! They gave me something throughout the night that was supposed to help me dilate and soften and get ready for labor. I had contractions all night but didn't feel them until around 4:30 in the morning and they weren't too bad...just a little uncomfortable. I kept trying to sleep until about 6:30 when it became impossible because the contractions were so strong and painful!! They came in and told me the last dose of the pill they gave me ended up putting me too far in to labor and I was having too frequent and strong of contractions (a minute apart! ouch!) and I was only dilated a 3. They gave me something to help the contractions slow down and then I asked when I could get the epidural...Haha! I was ready!

At 8:30 I was able to get an epidural and it was great! Seriously, I loved it! I finally was able to get some sleep and felt so relaxed. At 10:30 they came in and told me I was dilated to a 5-6 and that since I was progressing on my own they wouldn't need to give me anything to induce me, I was doing it on my own! At 12:00 I started feeling a lot of pressure and I told Josh that I was worried the contractions were too strong and that I was starting to feel them through the epidural. We called in the nurse and she told me I was dilated to a 10 and ready to go!! We decided to "labor down" for a little while longer, meaning that since I wasn't in pain we would just let the contractions do their job and help push the baby down so that I wouldn't have to push as long.

Finally, at 2:00 it was time to push! I pushed for about 10 minutes but they were worried about Ezra and the cord being wrapped around something. His heart rate dropped with every contraction, even when I didn't push, and it took a little bit for it to come back up. We waited for the doctor to show up and then I pushed a couple times and he said we needed to get the baby out faster. He grabbed a vacuum to help pull him out while I pushed. We did that for about 10-15 minutes. Josh did great and was so encouraging and counted through each push for me. I asked him how he was doing and told him not to watch...I didn't want him to pass out! But he said he was fine and was watching (from the side...where it was a little more safe to watch) When Ezra finally started crowning the nurses said "look at all that hair!!" I looked at Josh and said "he has hair?!" I was so excited and happy! It gave me a bunch of motivation and I pushed as hard as I could and he came out. It was the most magical moment seeing him there for the first time. He was so much cuter than I even imagined. I started crying and looked at Josh and he had tears in his eyes looking at me and at our son. It was so surreal to finally have our son here and to see his little face.

They scooped him away to make sure everything was okay and the rest was a blur of making sure he was okay, I was okay and then they brought him back to me and I was able to hold him. It was amazing.

It's been so amazing to finally see him and hold him. During labor I think something switched in Josh and changed him. Just in those short few minutes of labor and then seeing Ezra, he changed and became a Dad and it's been the most adorable thing I've ever seen.
I'm so lucky :)

39 Weeks!

How far along: 39 weeks
Baby size of: A watermelon! Eek! That's too big! I think it's time for him to come now!
Total weight gain: I've gained about 33 pounds. My doctor joked it was all in my stomach but that kind of scares me to think that I could be having a big baby!
Maternity clothes: I'm due in 7 days...obviously I'm wearing maternity clothes ha!
Sleep: It's definitely a lot harder in the last few weeks to sleep. I think it's a mix of anxiety and excitement. For some reason I don't think about baby coming during the day but every time I go to bed I think "this could be it! He could come!"
Cravings: Still sweets mostly. He really likes his chocolate.
Best moment this week: Not baby related...but Josh and I had a super fun St. Paddy's Day together :) also-it was beautiful weather on Sunday and we loved it. (Course, it's been cold and cloudy ever since...)
Emotional moment this week: Just lots of excitement and nerves and anxiety!!
Belly button: It's pretty out. It kind of pops in and out depending on how I'm sitting.
Wedding ring on or off: ON! :)
Looking forward to: Meeting Baby J! Josh and I realize every day how close we are to having the baby and we can't even imagine it!

Things have been good here! The last few weeks definitely get harder but I've been so lucky with this pregnancy, I really can't complain. I can still walk and jump around (I try to hop around the apartment...don't want baby to be too comfortable and stay in there forever!) and I'm not sick or overly tired of being pregnant. I am definitely ready to meet our little man but I can't complain about the pregnancy. I am pretty terrified of labor though!! I think I've been having contractions but they aren't consistent and they don't hurt. I just get the tightening of my belly and no pain along with it. I've been keeping track of them but they aren't frequent enough yet to really worry. Hopefully that just means my body is preparing for him to come!
We can't wait! The idea that we will have a baby in the next week is crazy! So many emotions!

38 Weeks!

How far along: 38 weeks
Baby size of: A small pumpkin!!
Total weight gain: I've gained about 31 pounds. Whew!
Maternity clothes: Duh
Sleep: Trying to soak it up as much as I can before he comes! Definitely not taking the sleep I do get for granted...although I haven't slept through the night in a while.
Cravings: Lots of things...food is yummy! Sweets are still at the top of the list although we also love Mexican and spicy food.
Best moment this week: I go to the doctor every week now and this week we were talking about how he really could come any day now and we talked about labor. All of it was just making me so excited that he really could come at any point! I can't even imagine!
Emotional moment this week: I think I get more and more emotional the closer we get to the end.
Belly button: Still flat...not out, not in. Just kind of there.
Wedding ring on or off: ON! :)
Looking forward to: Obviously having the baby!! I keep thinking he's going to come early but I think every pregnant woman thinks that...it's a mix of wishful thinking and nerves :) Honestly though we can't wait! It's so crazy!

Our little man could officially come any day now...which is a little scary and a lot exciting! It's just so crazy to imagine us bringing him home and our lives never being the same again. We can't wait...and yet that's all we really can do until he decides to come :)

37 Weeks!

How far along: 37 weeks
Baby size of: Winter Melon (what's a winter melon??)
Total weight gain: About 30 pounds! Oh boy!
Maternity clothes: Yeah! We scored this week and found 2 awesome pairs of maternity jeans at DI! I'm going to live in them for the next 3 weeks.
Sleep: I love sleep and I love my pregnancy dreams. I had the funniest dream this past week. I gave birth to a flying squirrel haha! I was really concerned because he was a little small so I decided to put him back for a couple more weeks. Oh geez!
Cravings: He (and by him, I mean me...) still loving those sweets! It helps that my birthday was this past week and I got lots of yummy treats.
Best moment this week: My birthday! So fun! I'll post a different blog about it later but it was great :)
Emotional moment this week: I had my fair share of pregnancy hormones and some tears. But that comes with the territory right?
Belly button: It's not really out...but it's not in. It's just kind of flat.
Wedding ring on or off: I'm still lucky enough to wear it! Glad I haven't swollen up yet!
Looking forward to: Meeting our little man! I'm officially full term so from here on out it's just a waiting game. Crazy!!

Happy 37 weeks to us! I'm officially considered full term! It is crazy! I can't believe how fast it's gone, but also I feel like I've been pregnant forever! It's kinda scary not knowing when he's coming but the doctor said she wouldn't be surprised if we went to the due date. So I guess we will see! We are still loving life and soaking up all these moments of us time before he comes :)
