Happy 4th of July!

Our 4th of July was a good one this year! Any reason to dress up, party and have school/work off you just know is going to be good! We started off the day with the Rexburg parade (lots of children dancing and guys on tractors...) and finished the day with amazing fireworks in Menan. You can watch our video to see all the fun we had that day :) Hope everyone had a good and safe 4th!

Ezra Harvey Jorgensen

Ezra Harvey Jorgensen was born April 4th 2016 at 2:40 pm weighing 6 lbs 7 oz and 19 1/2 inches long.
We spent Sunday night in the hospital because I was going to officially be induced Monday morning. The first thing they did there was give me an IV. Josh almost passed out, legit almost passed out. He told the nurse he was going to pass out and they had to get him a chair and make sure he was okay. Haha! It was a little worrisome considering what was coming later! They gave me something throughout the night that was supposed to help me dilate and soften and get ready for labor. I had contractions all night but didn't feel them until around 4:30 in the morning and they weren't too bad...just a little uncomfortable. I kept trying to sleep until about 6:30 when it became impossible because the contractions were so strong and painful!! They came in and told me the last dose of the pill they gave me ended up putting me too far in to labor and I was having too frequent and strong of contractions (a minute apart! ouch!) and I was only dilated a 3. They gave me something to help the contractions slow down and then I asked when I could get the epidural...Haha! I was ready!

At 8:30 I was able to get an epidural and it was great! Seriously, I loved it! I finally was able to get some sleep and felt so relaxed. At 10:30 they came in and told me I was dilated to a 5-6 and that since I was progressing on my own they wouldn't need to give me anything to induce me, I was doing it on my own! At 12:00 I started feeling a lot of pressure and I told Josh that I was worried the contractions were too strong and that I was starting to feel them through the epidural. We called in the nurse and she told me I was dilated to a 10 and ready to go!! We decided to "labor down" for a little while longer, meaning that since I wasn't in pain we would just let the contractions do their job and help push the baby down so that I wouldn't have to push as long.

Finally, at 2:00 it was time to push! I pushed for about 10 minutes but they were worried about Ezra and the cord being wrapped around something. His heart rate dropped with every contraction, even when I didn't push, and it took a little bit for it to come back up. We waited for the doctor to show up and then I pushed a couple times and he said we needed to get the baby out faster. He grabbed a vacuum to help pull him out while I pushed. We did that for about 10-15 minutes. Josh did great and was so encouraging and counted through each push for me. I asked him how he was doing and told him not to watch...I didn't want him to pass out! But he said he was fine and was watching (from the side...where it was a little more safe to watch) When Ezra finally started crowning the nurses said "look at all that hair!!" I looked at Josh and said "he has hair?!" I was so excited and happy! It gave me a bunch of motivation and I pushed as hard as I could and he came out. It was the most magical moment seeing him there for the first time. He was so much cuter than I even imagined. I started crying and looked at Josh and he had tears in his eyes looking at me and at our son. It was so surreal to finally have our son here and to see his little face.

They scooped him away to make sure everything was okay and the rest was a blur of making sure he was okay, I was okay and then they brought him back to me and I was able to hold him. It was amazing.

It's been so amazing to finally see him and hold him. During labor I think something switched in Josh and changed him. Just in those short few minutes of labor and then seeing Ezra, he changed and became a Dad and it's been the most adorable thing I've ever seen.
I'm so lucky :)

39 Weeks!

How far along: 39 weeks
Baby size of: A watermelon! Eek! That's too big! I think it's time for him to come now!
Total weight gain: I've gained about 33 pounds. My doctor joked it was all in my stomach but that kind of scares me to think that I could be having a big baby!
Maternity clothes: I'm due in 7 days...obviously I'm wearing maternity clothes ha!
Sleep: It's definitely a lot harder in the last few weeks to sleep. I think it's a mix of anxiety and excitement. For some reason I don't think about baby coming during the day but every time I go to bed I think "this could be it! He could come!"
Cravings: Still sweets mostly. He really likes his chocolate.
Best moment this week: Not baby related...but Josh and I had a super fun St. Paddy's Day together :) also-it was beautiful weather on Sunday and we loved it. (Course, it's been cold and cloudy ever since...)
Emotional moment this week: Just lots of excitement and nerves and anxiety!!
Belly button: It's pretty out. It kind of pops in and out depending on how I'm sitting.
Wedding ring on or off: ON! :)
Looking forward to: Meeting Baby J! Josh and I realize every day how close we are to having the baby and we can't even imagine it!

Things have been good here! The last few weeks definitely get harder but I've been so lucky with this pregnancy, I really can't complain. I can still walk and jump around (I try to hop around the apartment...don't want baby to be too comfortable and stay in there forever!) and I'm not sick or overly tired of being pregnant. I am definitely ready to meet our little man but I can't complain about the pregnancy. I am pretty terrified of labor though!! I think I've been having contractions but they aren't consistent and they don't hurt. I just get the tightening of my belly and no pain along with it. I've been keeping track of them but they aren't frequent enough yet to really worry. Hopefully that just means my body is preparing for him to come!
We can't wait! The idea that we will have a baby in the next week is crazy! So many emotions!

38 Weeks!

How far along: 38 weeks
Baby size of: A small pumpkin!!
Total weight gain: I've gained about 31 pounds. Whew!
Maternity clothes: Duh
Sleep: Trying to soak it up as much as I can before he comes! Definitely not taking the sleep I do get for granted...although I haven't slept through the night in a while.
Cravings: Lots of things...food is yummy! Sweets are still at the top of the list although we also love Mexican and spicy food.
Best moment this week: I go to the doctor every week now and this week we were talking about how he really could come any day now and we talked about labor. All of it was just making me so excited that he really could come at any point! I can't even imagine!
Emotional moment this week: I think I get more and more emotional the closer we get to the end.
Belly button: Still flat...not out, not in. Just kind of there.
Wedding ring on or off: ON! :)
Looking forward to: Obviously having the baby!! I keep thinking he's going to come early but I think every pregnant woman thinks that...it's a mix of wishful thinking and nerves :) Honestly though we can't wait! It's so crazy!

Our little man could officially come any day now...which is a little scary and a lot exciting! It's just so crazy to imagine us bringing him home and our lives never being the same again. We can't wait...and yet that's all we really can do until he decides to come :)

37 Weeks!

How far along: 37 weeks
Baby size of: Winter Melon (what's a winter melon??)
Total weight gain: About 30 pounds! Oh boy!
Maternity clothes: Yeah! We scored this week and found 2 awesome pairs of maternity jeans at DI! I'm going to live in them for the next 3 weeks.
Sleep: I love sleep and I love my pregnancy dreams. I had the funniest dream this past week. I gave birth to a flying squirrel haha! I was really concerned because he was a little small so I decided to put him back for a couple more weeks. Oh geez!
Cravings: He (and by him, I mean me...) still loving those sweets! It helps that my birthday was this past week and I got lots of yummy treats.
Best moment this week: My birthday! So fun! I'll post a different blog about it later but it was great :)
Emotional moment this week: I had my fair share of pregnancy hormones and some tears. But that comes with the territory right?
Belly button: It's not really out...but it's not in. It's just kind of flat.
Wedding ring on or off: I'm still lucky enough to wear it! Glad I haven't swollen up yet!
Looking forward to: Meeting our little man! I'm officially full term so from here on out it's just a waiting game. Crazy!!

Happy 37 weeks to us! I'm officially considered full term! It is crazy! I can't believe how fast it's gone, but also I feel like I've been pregnant forever! It's kinda scary not knowing when he's coming but the doctor said she wouldn't be surprised if we went to the due date. So I guess we will see! We are still loving life and soaking up all these moments of us time before he comes :)

Nursery Reveal!

We covered all the outlets in the room with maps :)

We have adorable hot air balloon curtains for the window that my Mom is bringing when she comes at the end of the month :)

We are so excited to show everyone the nursery! It's crazy to think about how soon we will be bringing our little man home to his new room. We decided on a travel/adventure theme since early in the beginning...a big shout out and thanks to all those that gave us cute things to go along with our theme! :)

36 Weeks!

How far along: 36 weeks
Baby size of: Honeydew melon! (when I showed Josh the picture of the cute fruit with the face he said "wow he's a chubster!")
Total weight gain: About 29 pounds
Maternity clothes: Yup, all I wear! I did buy a super cute post baby swimsuit. I tried to try it on (just for laughs) but it definitely doesn't fit over my stomach haha
Sleep: I love sleep. I am not looking forward to waking up every few hours to feed our little man in the next few weeks.
Cravings: Sweets! All the time! We've been eating a lot of ice cream lately...oops :) Also, I'm currently making chocolate chip cookies.
Best moment this week: My baby shower! My sweet friend Haleigh threw me a baby shower and it was so fun! All my cute friends came and brought cute gifts and we felt so loved. I'm so grateful for the amazing support and friends we have! We also took maternity photos this week and we love them!
Emotional moment this week: Our nursery is done! We are going to be revealing it soon and I can't wait!! Every time I look in that room my stomach does a million flips of excitement and nerves!
Belly button: It's so funny looking! It hasn't popped out yet but it's all stretched out. My stomach is so pointy.
Wedding ring on or off: I'm lucky enough to say I still haven't started swelling so I still get to wear my ring :) (for now)
Looking forward to: My birthday! My birthday is on Tuesday! Which means my birthday week is officially being celebrated! Also looking forward to revealing our nursery to everyone! It's so cute :)

I can't believe Baby J is due exactly 4 weeks from today! It's like counting down to a vacation and feeling that excitement but also nerves because you still have a lot to do before the vacation. You're also a little scared that the plane or boat may crash and you might die (hello, fear of labor!) and with a baby, our life will never be the same. I don't think we can even imagine! I can't wait to see his little face :)

Happy Leap Day!

I absolutely love any reason to celebrate and what's better than having an extra 24 hours?? Hope your leap day was a day to celebrate!

35 Weeks!

How far along: 35 weeks
Baby size of: Coconut! (which makes me dream of a wonderfully warm tropical island somewhere)
Total weight gain: About 27 pounds
Maternity clothes: Still love how comfy they are but I think I'm ready for normal clothes again
Sleep: I sleep pretty well thankfully. I've mastered the middle of the night bathroom trip while half asleep. I did wake up the other night because the poor little guy had hiccups haha!
Cravings: Those muffins from Costco, the big chocolate ones...yeah those still sound awesome. Also a Fast Break. That's the best candy bar ever :)
Best moment this week: We decided we were going to try and take our own maternity photos instead of hiring someone right away. We went out and spent an hour taking some in the snow on Sunday and I love them! We got quite a few I liked (I'll post them soon!) and we are going to take some more this weekend since the weather is supposed to be nice.
Emotional moment this week: I've been pretty good lately...nothing too funny or tragic to report. I did have a scary moment when Josh and I realized that the baby could come early and we aren't ready. Don't worry-we are now ready! Hospital bag is now packed and ready to go! :)
Belly button: Honesty I still can't believe it hasn't popped out yet. It's stretched just about as far as it can...I just wonder if my belly button is too shallow to even pop out! haha!
Wedding ring on or off: I still wear my ring...just not my band. It's a little tighter than my ring and if anything crazy happens I don't want to risk them having to cut it off! (cause that's a thing right...people have some crazy stories...I don't want my wedding ring being cut off!)
Looking forward to: My baby shower!! My wonderful friend is throwing me a couple's baby shower on Saturday and I can't wait! It's going to be so fun!

This week has been a good one! Our little man is doing great, moving like crazy and has the hiccups at least once a day. Josh gets the hiccups if he eats without drinking and we've noticed a trend that Baby J gets hiccups when I eat....I've guess we've got a mini-Josh. Our nursery is done except for one thing! We can't wait to share it with everyone! (my Mom is bringing our curtains...soo those won't be here for another month or so haha but it's still cute!)
Also, the weather is finally warming up and we are loving it!! :)

34 Weeks!

How far along: 34 weeks
Baby size of: Butternut squash
Total weight gain: I've gained 27 pounds so far but I'm pretty sure I'm going to gain 50 more pounds in the last few weeks...I'm always starving! Food is the awesome.
Maternity clothes: Are the best!
Sleep: Sleeping like a rock again. I love sleep. I have the funniest dreams! Although I did freak out a couple nights ago because Josh and I were cuddling and in my dream he had a spider in his hand and kept putting it in my face.
Cravings: Yesterday it was those big chocolate muffins from Costco. We went and got some and they were perfect. The lady at the store was soo nice. I asked if they had chocolate chips inside and she opened one of the boxes and cut one in half and gave Josh and I both half to try them. She was my new favorite person.
Aversions: Nope! I just said food was awesome!
Best moment this week: Valentine's weekend was super fun! (see previous post for all the details!)
Emotional moment this week: Embarrassingly enough, I had one today. Josh and I went to the career fair and I heard him talking to schools and employers and I was just so happy and overcome with pride. He has grown so much and it was so awesome listening to him talking about what he wants and his future. I was trying to keep my emotions in check haha I also watched What to Expect While You're Expecting and cried a whole lot. That movie is too emotional for a pregnant lady!
Belly button: In, in in!
Wedding ring on or off: Half on? Haha my wedding band is a little tight to take off so I've been too scared to wear it. The ring is still good though!
Looking forward to: Finishing the nursery! We officially have 2 or 3 things left and then it's done!! It looks so good :) I can't wait to share it with you guys!

This week was a pretty good one with Valentine's Day and almost finishing the nursery :) I can't believe how close it is getting to our due date. I keep thinking he's going to come early and then I think that's probably how all pregnant women think because that's what they want haha It is a little scary not knowing when or what to expect but I guess that's all just a part of the fun!

Valentine's Day!

I love assorted chocolate! Seriously, Josh hears me talk about them all the time. That suspense of biting in and not knowing what you're going to get is the best!! So he spoiled me a little bit...that box is huge!

I'm such a sucker for holidays! I love them and any excuse to celebrate!
Our Valentine's Day was perfect this year. It was low key and some good alone time (can you believe this was our last Valentine's Day just the two of us??) On Saturday Josh spoiled me and went out and got me flowers and doughnuts to start the day :) Then we hung out with our friends Haleigh and Drew and played the Wii. We officially started our Valentine's Day early by going to Chili's for dinner. It was super delicious!! When we came back I gave Josh a part of his present...some yummy Oreo heart truffles I made. Then Sunday came and we were able to go listen to Elder Rasband and his wife speak about love and marriage...it was perfect! Such a happy meeting and I loved all the marriage advice! Then we came home and had a nice relaxing afternoon together. We exchanged gifts and Josh made me a cute romantic candlelight dinner (peanut butter Thai chicken...yum!)
The fact that the next day was President's Day so Josh didn't have to work and we got to wake up together was definitely a nice bonus to the weekend :)
Hope everyone had a great day/weekend celebrating love!!

33 Weeks!

How far along: 33 weeks
Baby size of: Durian (is it bad I didn't know what that was until today??)
Total weight gain: Growing and growing! I've gained 25 pounds so far.
Maternity clothes: Oversized sweaters and t-shirts are my favorite. I officially don't have a coat I can zip up either...
Sleep: Sadly the last few nights have been a little rough. I haven't been sleeping well. Not sure if I'm uncomfortable or what but it's getting more difficult.
Cravings: Cheesecake brownies! I made some and they are delicious!!
Aversions: Nope!
Best moment this week: We toured the hospital today. It was exciting! And it made it seem very real (and a little scary)
Emotional moment this week: No funny or ridiculous stories this week...
Belly button: Still in! Thankfully! I keep waiting for it to pop out.
Wedding ring on or off: Today I actually woke up and put on my ring and it was tighter to put on so I tried to take it off and it was definitely too tight. I'm not sure why though...my fingers aren't swollen. My ring has always been tight though so the smallest amount of swelling would make it hard. I guess we'll see if I wear it tomorrow!
Looking forward to: Valentine's Day! We don't have any big plans really but it's always nice having a day to celebrate your love :)

32 Weeks!

That is his little hand above his head! He sleeps just like Josh does :)

How far along: 32 weeks (8 months!!)
Baby size of: Squash
Total weight gain: About 23 pounds...still growing about a pound a week.
Maternity clothes: Still wearing them...I feel like I'm on the downward stretch with a month left so I don't think I need to buy any more.
Sleep: Getting a little more difficult...still having hilarious dreams though. I woke up the other night to go to the bathroom and I was stumbling to the bathroom completely exhausted and thought "oh no, this is what I can expect soon as I get up every few hours to feed him..."
Cravings: Chocolate! Josh is definitely okay with it and is constantly helping me give in to the craving ;)
Aversions: Does my growing stomach make it look like I have food aversions??
Best moment this week: THE ULTRASOUND!! Seriously, I wish I could have my own little machine and just spend all day staring at him. He's so cute! His lips and his nose and his hair!! :)
Emotional moment this week: Nothing too funny or embarrassing to report this week.
Belly button: Still in! Josh and I laugh because it's close to popping out...it looks like it's half popped out...it's thinking about it!
Wedding ring on or off: Still on :) Thankful I haven't started swelling yet!
Looking forward to: The Super Bowl! I know that's not really baby related but I'm looking forward to it! We got a bunch of delicious food and my home team is playing (Go Panthers!)

This week was a good one! We had an ultrasound and it was perfect! Baby J is growing as he should be and he's in the right position and he has grown so much! We just die every time we look at those adorable lips and nose! Josh already thinks Baby J has his nose and I think it's so cute. During the ultrasound she even said that Baby J has hair!! She pointed out the little fuzzy on his head and said that it is his hair! With 8 more weeks to go, I'm excited to see how much he has when he's born! :)

Double date Friday

Last night we did a double date with some of our good friends. We did a Mexican theme dinner with tacos, guacamole and of course the delicious Mexican Coke! Then we spent the rest of the night playing the Wii and playing Oodles of Doodles. We now love Oodles of Doodles! It is soo funny! (try and guess what any of those drawings are!)
It's such a blessing having good friends that you can hang out and laugh with for hours.
We are grateful for Fridays like these with friends like these :)
